Through KIPP Forward, we’re supporting students to choose and prepare for the educational and career path that fits their goals and sense of purpose. Once on their way, the KIPP Forward team will help alumni keep moving forward while pursuing their dreams.
KIPP Forward in the Capital Region
We endeavor to support all alumni of our original and merged schools with KIPP’s Career Continuum Strategy so that our students will be prepared for the postsecondary education and training pathway that best fits their choice of career.
Toward this end, we work with students, alumni, families, and partners, to:
- Enroll KIPP middle school alumni in our KIPP high school
- Achieve high graduation rates in high school
- Pursue a college-ready academic bar, so that there is true choice for each KIPPster
- Build supports for multiple postsecondary pathways toward careers of highest aspiration
- Advocate for policies that support ALL our students and their communities (systemic equity)
- Create an active alumni network (regionally and nationally) in support of alumni leadership and our vision and mission
College and Career Readiness
In the general sense, college and career readiness can be defined as the level of preparation a student needs in order to succeed – without remediation – in a credit-bearing course at a postsecondary college or university or in a high-quality certificate program that enables students to enter a career pathway with potential future advancement.
Our College and Career Readiness programming ensures that our high school students receive the proper knowledge, skill, experience and support to successfully enroll and attain success in a best-match college or career program upon graduation.
Postsecondary Success
Once on their way, KIPP advisors help alumni keep moving forward, tackling academic, social, and financial challenges they might encounter while pursuing their dreams. The pathway to success may have many milestones: certificates, licensure, degrees, but ultimately all roads lead to a fulfilling career!
